Connecting Through R U OK? Day

This year, R U OK? Day was held on 10 September, reminding us of the power of a simple conversation.

Led by Australian charity R U OK?, the national awareness day encourages people to check in with each other, stay connected, support those around them and make meaningful conversations a regular part of everyday life.

To mark the occasion, WATC launched the Coffee Connection Challenge, encouraging staff to share a coffee, tea or hot chocolate with a colleague, particularly with someone they may not know well. The initiative created opportunities for conversation, helped build new connections and strengthened relationships across the organisation.

Staff were also invited to contribute to a Gratitude Wall, sharing messages of appreciation for colleagues who had taken the time to check in and show support. Together, the activities highlighted how small gestures and genuine conversations can help create a more connected and supportive workplace.
