The Household Spending Indicator provides data on both monthly and quarterly household spending. The monthly notes highlight developments in the value of consumer spending across industry groups and states, while the quarterly notes contain additional information about real (price-adjusted) household spending.

  • 05 May 2026 Household Spending March 2026

    Household spending rose by a seasonally adjusted 1.6% in nominal terms in March. Taking out the price impact, household spending rose by a moderate 0.7% in Q1, to be up by 2.8% YoY.

  • 07 Apr 2026 Household Spending February 2026

    Household spending rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.3% in February, the same as the previous month and slightly more than the 0.2% pencilled in by market consensus.

  • 05 Mar 2026 Household Spending January 2026

    Household spending rose a seasonally adjusted 0.3% in January, slightly less than the 0.4% pencilled in by the market consensus. Annual growth in household spending decelerated to 4.6%, a level unseen since May 2025.

  • 09 Feb 2026 Household Spending December 2025

    Household spending fell a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in December 2025, against the market expectations of a 0.1% uptick. The December decline in the household spending came after strong outcomes for the previous two months, driven by Black Friday sales.

  • 12 Jan 2026 Household Spending November 2025

    Household spending rose a seasonally adjusted 1.0% in November (mkt exp 0.6%), with October’s gain revised up to 1.4% from 1.3%. The annual growth rate accelerated 0.6ppts to a more than two-year high of 6.3%.

  • 04 Dec 2025 Household Spending October 2025

    Household spending rose a seasonally adjusted 1.3% in October, more than double the 0.6% expected by the markets. The increase in October was broad-based, with gains registered in goods and services as well as discretionary and essential items.
