Economic data from the advanced economies pointed to an increasing negative impact from the second wave of
COVID-19. PMIs slipped into contraction territory across Europe, while US consumer confidence declined in November and US initial jobless claims rose again last week. Growth in US durable goods orders and private consumption decelerated in October.
In Australia, the composite PMI pointed to a faster expansion in November, reflecting Victoria re-opening. Preliminary merchandise trade data pointed to record iron ore exports in October. Construction work done and private capex continued to fall in Q3.
