In Australia, the NAB business survey indicated that business conditions remained strong in October, but deteriorated further. The Westpac consumer sentiment index plunged to the lowest level since April 2020 in November and consumer inflation expectations rose 0.6ppts to a four-month high of 6.0%. Payroll jobs and wages declined in the month to 15 October. Abroad, the annual rate of US headline CPI inflation declined to the lowest level since January, but it is still elevated. Chinese exports and imports fell in annual terms in October for the first time since 2020. Chinese PPI inflation turned negative for the first time since December 2020, while core CPI inflation fell to the slowest pace since March 2021.
